Alangium leaf printed with the Rijksmuseum painting 'Portrait of a girl in blue'
This girl looks so pretty on this Alangium leaf. It is made of unbleached cotton and printed with one of the topitems of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, the painting 'Portret van een meisje in het blauw' by Johannes Cornelisz. Verspronck. This item is part of the Rijksstudio project in collaboration with Etsy and Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. It is one of the 12 nature items in my art object A woman's herbarium.
size: 9 x 6 cm
material: unbleached cotton
technique: transfer- and fleuriste techniques
used painting: Portret van een meisje in het blauw, Johannes Cornelisz. Verspronck, 1641
The leaf will be wrapped in a beautiful box.
THE ‘ETSY ★ RIJKSSTUDIO’ PROJECT
This item is part of the Rijksstudio project in collaboration with Etsy and Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. The museum has digitally photographed and uploaded a large part of their collection, which is now available online for public use. They decided to collaborate with five Etsy artists from around the world to show examples of how these images could be used. I was asked to create an art object. I created a herbarium.
A WOMAN'S HERBARIUM
Beautiful and sad moments
tears of happiness and sorrow
Memories, I cherish them as dried flowers and leaves in a herbarium
They made me to who I am.
A woman's herbarium shows the life of a woman on 12 different leaves, flowers and butterflies.
